Now would be good time to apologize to your friends that believed in and prepared for the "Zombie Apocalypse". With all of the havoc surrounding the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic, one can't help but to think of what would happen should the U.S. go on total lockdown like we've seen happen in other countries. It may be closer than you think.
With the recent shortage of basic items such as toilet tissue and hand sanitizer, you can't help but commend those seemingly hoarder neighbors that have a garage full of their bounty from hours of couponing. I sure wouldn't mind taking a shopping cart over and loading up!
Even so, it's a bit late for that now. News and rumors of a mandated quarantine in the U.S. are swirling whether you like it or not. Uncle Sam may very well be putting all of us on "restriction" in the very near future. As long as we're going to be on mandated lockdown, may as well make the best of it! Here are some of my suggestions on ways to keep yourself busy / entertained if you ever find yourself quarantined.

1. Write that book you've always talked about. With 4-6 weeks of being home, it would be a great time to put pen to paper ...or fingers to keyboard... and get your story out there.
2. Start your own business. No more excuses about not having time to research or write your business plan. Get everything done to start your business, from creating your website to planning a grand opening.
3. Take online cooking classes. Depending on how much "disposable" groceries you may have, now is a good time to try some of those pinterest recipes or better yet, take a virtual cooking class!
4.If you have a partner, practice Kama Sutra and learn some new moves or perfect your old ones. Take time to relearn your spouse and revisit how you fell in love in the first place.
5. If you have children, make up a new game for family time. You'll be surprised at the imagination kids have.
6. Plan a virtual game night with friends. Group video chat with your friends and play "Never Have I Ever", "Win, Lose or Draw" or any type of conversational game.
7. Start that garden! Using seeds from what you've been cooking/eating, start sprouting the roots and preparing them for planting once the quarantine has lifted. YouTube has videos on how to do this.
8. Start a YouTube channel. Make a video diary of your lockdown time. You can record it as yourself or get really creative and record as a fictional character. Great for those aspiring actors with a lot of pent up energy and a closet full of costumes.
9. Look for a new job. If you've always wanted to pursue other career opportunities, take the time to update your resume and apply for a job you can truly love.
10. Virtual Book Club. Start or join a virtual book club. With all of the extra time, you can plan to "meet" as often as you'd like. Set a goal for 2 books per week!
11. Find a new boo! If you've never tried online dating, try it while quarantined. It will give you a couple of weeks to weed out the ones you don't like without having to leave the comfort of your home. You can chat, virtual date or completely ghost anyone you like!
12. Detox. If you've ever wanted to try the latest detox and clear your digestive track but shied away from it because you didn't want to have a bowel explosion in the public office stall, this would be a good time to let it all out.
Whatever you decide to do with your time, enjoy it! Look on the bright side and create a new hobby. Find the silver lining and the positivity will follow.
